For most of us our 61st day of Independence Day would have been like any other holiday spent in front of the television sets. As our nation becomes older the interest in our past seems to be waning especially anong its young citizens. History in textbooks is boring and most students learn it for marks. "Children must be encouraged to study history. It must be presented to them through stories and songs". A sense of patriotism is a must among youngsters of today. The contribution of Patriotic Tamils and their sacrifices in achiving independence was by no means lesser than those of the other Indians but somehow they never got their due prominence. It was this that inspired me to step in and fill the gap.
